Studying Spelling Again...

"Naty, please say this words aloud so that your brother can write them down," my mom said.

I was helping Santiago in spelling again. He has so much trouble with it...Whenever he has spelling homework or he gets his quizzes back, I know I will be busy too.

"Piece, piece, piece..."I repeated.

I always have to say each word about five times. We--Santiago and I-- do the same quiz about seven times minimum. That is hard! I also have stuff to do, you know. He has the same words wrong every single time. My mom got tired of it.

"For every mistake I will hit you. Understood?" she said roughly.

I really don't like my mom hitting my little brother, but he is very sneaky. Yesterday he was writing the words in the desk! He keeps trying to fool her, but he gets caught every time. I honestly do not understands why he keeps doing it. Why would you do it if you know that you'll be hit every time?

I think--after some experience--that he will have some of the words wrong again. I am not saying that my brother is dumb or stupid, but that he does it every afternoon. It is always the same routine. When he gets hit, I sometimes laugh. I am not making fun of him or enjoying his suffering, but his face is hilarious...It seems so fake even though he is really scared, I think.

I am not sure if he is actually scared or he's just pretending to. Maybe he wants my mom to think that he "learned" the lesson and that he will do better. I told you, he is really sneaky. If he actually learned the lesson, why did he keeps doing the same thing??? (I know I am repeating myself.) I think my mom noticed because she is now much more strict with him.

I am still dictating the same words. Santiago has trouble with the word "space". I will stop now, because we haven't finished and it will take forever till we stop. My mom looks a little stressed right now...She has to go to her English classes in half an hour. My brother now forgot another word...
