I opened my math notebook and my head began to fill with numbers and problems that I didn't understand. I have a test on Friday, so Mrs. Culberson gave us a review test. It is very difficult and she said that we are expected to search for it if. We have no clue how to do all of those problems. It is hard to be in the Honors class.
We were all busy doing homework and my mom randomly said,
"My dad!"
She noticed my "What are you taking about" face and she immediately said that today was my grandpa's birthday. She usually calls him, but not today.
My mom's parents live in Ontario, Canada. Luckily they got a computer recently but they have no idea how to use it. They didn't even know how to move the mouse! They never had a computer before or even have an idea how to use it. This was something really new for them. The only thing that my uncle, my mom's brother, taught them was how to use skype. He lives there because of some other problems he has--long story--but he knows about technology. He was the one that gave my grandparents the computer. They just wanted a computer to communicate with is since we are always moving plus they also wanted to see us.
My mom told me to check if my grandma was online and, if she was, call her. Apparently she was online so I did as I was told. She answered sooner than what I expected.
"Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you..." my brother, my mom and I sang.
My grandpa is not the person that cries when he know someone remembered his birthday. He simply thanked us, talked to us for a minute or so and went back to the sofa to watch TV.
I personally thought that he will react a little happier, but he's not that type of person. My mom didn't seem surprised at all. It is kind of expected. I mean, he's my mom's father. We congratulated him and everything and went back to our business. My grandma kept watching us excitingly

ReplyDeleteI love this line. It reveals so much about your mom, your grandfather individually and it speaks volumes to their relationship.
